Sweating General Info
Sweating is the production and then evaporation of fluid, mostly water, that is made by the sweat glands in out skin. Sweat also contains a few other chemical compounds as well. Everybody sweats, it is the bodies natural way of cooling itself off when it gets hot. When the body overheats it causes the sweat glands to become active and then we sweat. The sweat, in turn, evaporates off of the skin and creates a cooling effect. Evaporation of sweat from the skin surface has a cooling effect due to the evaporation of water. Hence, in hot weather, or when the individual's muscles heat up due to exertion, more sweat is produced. Sweating is increased by nervousness and nausea and decreased by cold. |
